Well what to say. First of all i think i built up the presentation up too much my head, almost to the point that i found it a very daunting prospect. On the morning of the presentation i felt that maybe some team members didn't have a grasp, but all worries aside i felt that we had a good idea witch i belived in, but it was unfortunate that our visuals didn't do our idea justice.
and this deffinatly showed in the pitch, and with the feed back from the panel. but i can only look at this whole process as a positive, it has certainly made me more positive and willing to approach a project from a multitude of diffrent angles, in a weird turn around i actually enjoyed being at the front speaking, which is something that i found bloody scary. but i think the pitching process was a real eye opener for me and tought me alot about presenting work. but yeah deffinatly a positive thing to have to do, i have taken away alot of experience from it.

The presentation
After all the worrying in the morning i think we did well as a team when it matter!
The presentation went smoothly and we had a good idea. The one thing that let us down was getting our idea across visually through the presentation.
But this may of been because we did seem to jump from one idea to the next throughout the week and some of the team members were left behind. We did have a good idea, which was well researched but we needed more visuals to prove it. I felt as a team we failed to do this because there wasn't much communication between us.
But it’s all over and done with now, luckily! Well Done to Group 7

Sorry i couldn't make it in today but i was being sick the majority of the night and the morning so didn't want to risk coming in and being sick, especially in the pitch, i feel really bad about it especially after spending so much time on this project, and i knew the idea inside out. again i am very sorry. Old Idea
This was an idea that maybe helpeld us sculpt, the final idea and lead us up to the the idea we have now.
basically it is a babys cot made with exahust pipes which was connected to a cor engine.
but after discusion we decide it didn't really have the approach that said "STOP CLIMATE CHAOS"
it would have been hard hitting
but a bit to abstract for who the advert is aimed at, but it deffinatly needed tighting up.

Beginning Bulletins
The bullet points at the end of the presentation are very important for getting across the message of the visuals.
Coming up with a way of how to get that message across effetely but simple is going to be a hard task in its self.
Adam on his last post posted
“By simply reducing carbon buildup you can help prevent the causes of climate chaos and improve the life of future generations.”
I think this is the sort of language that we need to go for.
We have all agreed the end bulletin should say something along the lines of
“Together we can help stop climate chaos”
I also think we do need to some how explain the meaning of the images briefly?
A couple of group ideas about the beginning bulletins will follow, but we have all agreed that we need to keep the number of bulletins to a minimum, and the content simple.
* The growth of this carbon problem, is your responsibility,
* Your responsible for this carbon build up, the growth is because of you.
* Global warming is effecting your children how much are you contributing to the/their carbon build?
* Don’t give birth to carbon build up help prevent climate chaos.
our group are still brainstorming these ideas more posts may follow.

info at end
its just a basic idea but i think it works well as we need it to be simple and and get straight to the point.

speakers
The people who are prepared to do the pitch are me (Adam), Danielle, and Rob. still could everyone practice it though. just in case, as my throat is painful and if it gets worse i don't really want to be coughing and having to drink lots of water the whole way through, but everyone must know the idea inside out, be aware of the weak points of the idea so if asked about them your prepared to answer.

I have taken on board the infomation that adam has been written in the previous post[s] and will make a start on a pitch, and think it is a good idea if everyone has a version of what they will say and hs a practice of pitching.

Plan
Start of by giving our reason for the approach we have taken.
we want hard hitting information instead of the trend of its 'cool' to help which isn't working and we need cut down the average british persons carbon emissions of 11 tons, and a country average of 558,225 tons.
which step we have chosen from the 15.
face your elephant.
reason.
we wanted a hard hitting visual impact and as its about each persons build up of carbon emissions, we decided we could visually create something that was strong enough to make people stop think and remember what the advert is about.
The idea.
using the carbon build up we wanted to show it as a visual build up created by each person, but one that doesn't link directly to them but to the newest generation arriving as they are the ones that are going to have to deal with the problems of climate change.
How we are going to do this.
It will start of as typically as possible in a maternity ward showing babies (with only small marks on there skin) with there parents (will be a single panning shot of various babies and mothers but as it goes through it will be interrupted by people leaving lights on, appliances on, standby being used, and other forms of carbon emission causing situations, after each one of these appears, it will show the tumors starting to grow and deform the child (elephant man style) after that has happened show more children but all of them are like that, fades to black and information appears.
Whilst talking through this idea show the storyboard, will have it so you need to change storyboard image yourself so it will go at your pace, when you get to the part about how the tumors will look you then hand out the sheets with the images of tumors and ill babies so they can visually see how horrible it will look. Finally when you get to the part with the imagery fading to black and the type appearing say something along the lines of then finally the words blah blah blah will appear aimed at everyone and hitting home the message of what they have just seen. then the proposition of together we can stop climate chaos then finish on that.

What needs doing
Storyboards for a visual representation of the way we can take it (illustrators).
Images of tumors on children and adults, to help show how horrifying they look.
Decide what wording is going to be used at the end of the visuals.
Decide who is doing the pitch (preferably two people).
Use of mac application to show storyboards and imagery.
Printouts for handing out in pitch.
Pitch plan.

Final Idea
We had to choose one of the 15 steps to climate cooling, and have gone with 'Face your elephant', in convosation me and rob decided that we wanted to create an advert that stopped going with the trend of, "climate change is happening, you can help if you want to" and create an advert that says this is happening and makes people think that they need to start helping now instead of later.
'Face your elephants' is all about how all your carbon emissions build up, we thought the best way to tackle this would be to show this build up as a visual representation, and so came the idea of a tumor type growth building up on/underneath the skin changing the appearance of its host, whilst doing research one recurring bit of information was that it may not effect us but it will effect our children and even if we think we are doing good for them we are creating a poorer quality of life for them, this is why instead of the build up created by people effecting them it will effect babies.
We are going to show this by showing babies in a maternity ward, normal at first but then its going to show clips of people leaving lights on, appliances on and on stand by,but as this happens your going to see the build up happening to the babies, changing and distorting there visual appearance until they become similar to that of the image of the elephant man, the reason for showing this type of build up is because of the step ''face your elephants' it helps tie it into the visual representation of how we perceive the elephant in human form.
After you see the main imagery it will fade to black and some hard hitting information will appear on the screen that will relate the imagery to every person not just parents.

The Infant Ward Idea
The Infant Ward Idea
The particular aspects of the idea that make it one of my favourites is the fact that it is using a shocking imagery to catch attention of the target audience (us).
The reason I believe this is important because this sort of ad has been so successful in the past, particularly in campaigns brought about primarily to create awareness for a particular course i.e. smoking, drinking and driving, not wearing seat belts ect, examples of these advertising campaigns can be seen through early post in this blog.
Also most of the time the ad is accompanied by some statistics that in them selves are shocking in there own right, mostly because there facts and the viewer can’t argue there truth.
This is what we plan to do at the end of our advert, show the viewer some hard hitting shocking statistics that the viewer can not choose to believe because they are fact, it will be more a matter of the viewer can choose to ignore them, but after the imagery in the advert the idea is that the viewer would feel to guilty to pay no attention to the message?
I believe our group has come up with a strong idea, this should produce with the harsh imagery and hard statistics, a advert hard to just forget.

Harsh Image
more ideas
Rob came up with the idea of babies and how there going to be living in a polluted world so have them playing behind a car exhaust, this is looking at carbon emissions that we are breathing in and how its doubled in 100 years and it will continue growing and it will carry on effecting the young more than the old, it could have a a voice saying something along the lines of, you wouldn't put your child in situations like this but by not doing simple tasks as turning of lights, turning of appliances instead of leaving them on stand by and using your car less frequently you could help prevent this sort of environment for your child when they grow up.
come in and post in the blog
Can people please come in, me and rob were in from 10 till 4 on the Friday and same today (Monday) and it feels like people don't really care, also because we keep coming up with new ideas on the spot and we can discuss them there and then so if your not coming in your getting left behind, I'm not the type of person to fire anyone but i don't want to be doing all the work and other people just getting a free ride.
Ideas
As a group we have discussed ideas in person and on friday morning we decided we were going with the 15 stages to climate cooling, and that is still the plan, me (Adam) and rob have been in the studio and discussed the ideas that we have had, we have decided to take a different approach than what we originally intended, the original idea of the city lights going out at night and then seeing the effect of what light pollution had to the night sky, we liked this idea but didn't think it had enough impact and started thinking about how we could improve the idea but staying to the basics of it at the same time, we both agreed that the idea has to really make people stop and think.
outlines of new idea.
we did some research on effective campaigns for other types society problems such as road safety, smoking and drinking. The campaigns that stand out in peoples minds highlight the truths and get straight to the point in a visually creative way.
our idea is to treat carbon build up as a visible infection or tumor so the viewer can see the effects of there actions effecting them as they continue to avoid the problems of climate change, its not pretty and presents the viewer with a visual representation of carbon emissions.
after doing some more research i realized that agency's that are trying to fight the causes of climate change keep saying you might not see the effects of climate change but your children will and so will there children, and this gave me the idea of instead of the carbon tumor effecting people as they help create climate change, you see children with these tumors and babys being born with them already in place.
thinking about the way it could be shown i got thinking about how Americans thought that a real alien invasion was happening after the story of war of the worlds was read over radio, we could present it in a similar fashion, looking adverts for problems in Africa, news announcements, government broadcasts. i dont know if it would work but its just an idea.

Press Coverage
This is an image that I found in The Observer Magazine which featured a cover story about
climate control and the thirty six steps that could be taken by the viewer to reduce carbon
emissions. this image could be seen as a useful route to follow, but i don't that it is very
hard hitting, but could be manipulated to come across in a hard hitting manner.

An Inconvenient Truth
Successful Campains
When watching existing environment adverts there good for letting people know how they can prevent global warming but they lack the impact that makes people realize its time to change there ways, if you look at government adverts for road safety and smoking there is a massive difference in how there presented to the viewer.
